Volunteer to Coach

The Parks Department is always needing volunteer head coaches. The following items must be submitted to the Parks Department to register as a coach for the season:

The following trainings & background checks are required to be approved as a coach:

  • All head coaches and at least 1 assistant coach/per team are required to be CPR/AED certified. Certification trainings must be completed in person ONLY through American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Coaches must submit their certification documents to the league director annually. To schedule a training class to be CPR/AED certified, contact the league director. All fees are the responsibility of the coach.
  • USA Baseball "A" Certification (The "A" certification is a free one time training required for all head coaches. Coaches must submit their completion records to the Parks department annually along with their application)

All coaches are encouraged to obtain the NAYS certification in baseball (current and active) which includes General Liability Insurance, but is not required.  Certifications are for the protection of the coaches and will provide coaches additional insurance while coaching on the field.  Certification clinics are ONLINE with the NAYS  (www.nays.org/nyscaonlineclinics).  All fees are the responsibility of the coach.
