Plan Review

One of most important functions of the building department is the plan review process.  It is during this process where errors are found and are corrected easily.  Fixing a problem on paper is far better than a building inspector discovering a problem after construction has occurred costing money, time, and frustration on the builder’s end.

Plan Review is required for:

  • New structures
  • Additions
  • Alterations
  • Tenant Improvements
  • Remodels
  • Change of occupancy or use
  • Swimming pool installations
  • Decks greater than 200 square feet.  Note: A permit and plan review is required for any size deck if the deck is attached to the residence or serves as part of the existing system.
  • Patio covers
  • Sheds greater than 120 sq. feet
  • Electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems as determined by the building official

Plan Review Submittal Requirements:

For a helpful description of the requirements see below.  Not all items required on a set of plans are listed, and some plans require only partial items listed.  This is intended for a guideline, submittals will vary.  For questions please contact us at 615-822-3802.
