Peter Voss

Human Resources Director

Mr. Voss became the Human Resource Director for the City of Hendersonville in June 2016 after serving over 33 years for the City of Bartlett in West Tennessee.  Mr. Voss served in many capacities for the City of Bartlett and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Hendersonville.  His public-sector career includes:

  • HR Director in Hendersonville since June 2016
  • Director of Personnel/Risk Manager (8 years)
  • Assistant Director of Personnel/Safety Officer (3 years)
  • Benefits/Safety Officer (10 years)
  • Construction Inspector/Project Coordinator (6 years)
  • Water Treatment Plant Operator (5 years)
  • Chairman of City of Bartlett Pension Board (21 years)
  • Reserve Firefighter/EMT Lieutenant (21 years)

Mr. Voss is a native of Memphis and graduated from Christian Brothers High School and the University of Memphis.  His professional affiliations include: The Tennessee Personnel Managers Association (TPMA), where he has served on the Board of Directors for 12 years and elected Chapter President two times; Member of the Society of Human Resource Managers (SHRM); Member of the Tennessee Public Risk Managers Association (TnPRIMA).  He is also serving on the Government Affairs Task Force with the International Public Managers Association for Human Resources (IPMA-HR).  He and his wife, Jolynn, have been married since May 1983.  His wife is a hair stylist.  They are members of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.


Chris Taylor

Assistant Human Resources Director

Chris has worked for the City of Hendersonville since September 2015 and was a former Parks Director for the City of Madisonville (KY) were he was born and raised.  He has worked in local government his entire career and enjoys serving the citizens of this community as well as its employees.  He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations & Advertising with a Minor in Business Administration from the University of Southern Indiana. 

He is an active member of TnPRIMA, IPMA, and TPMA.  Chris earned his IPMA-SCP (Senior Certified Professional) certificate in August 2017 and completed Levels I and II of the Municipal Management Academy through MTAS.

Chris resides in East Nashville with his wife Caroline who is also from Madisonville (KY).  With a convenient airport close by, they travel any chance they get and love living in the Nashville area.  Being from Kentucky, as you might expect, Chris is a huge Kentucky basketball fan and loves rooting against the Volunteers and Commodores any chance he gets.                


Shelly Cleek

Senior Human Resources Coordinator

Shelly became employed with the City of Hendersonville is January 1985 and joined the HR Team in 1993.  She has extensive generalist experience and currently serves as the Senior Human Resources Coordinator. She earned her Associate of Applied Science in General Business, with a minor in Marketing, from Volunteer State Community College in August 1991 and is a member of the Tennessee Personnel Management Association.  Shelly became IPMA-SCP certified in August 2017.

Shelly is married with one daughter that attends law school/grad school in a dual degree program and she has a pet Bichon Frise to keep her nest from being empty.  In her time away from the office she loves traveling, cooking, decorating, reading and spending time with family and friends.


Debbie Trisdale

Accounting Technician

Debbie is an Accounting Technician in our Human Resources Department.  She came to work for the City of Hendersonville in November of 2004 after 24.5  dedicated years at R.R. Donnelley & Sons Printing Company in Gallatin and Kroger Accounting Center in Nashville for 2.5 years.  Debbie grew up and attended schools in Gallatin before moving to Hendersonville.  She graduated Cum Laude from Volunteer State Community College in Gallatin where she earned her Associate of Applied Science degree in General Business.

Debbie is a member of First Baptist Church in Hendersonville where she enjoys singing in the adult choir, ambassador choir and working with children’s choir.  She is a Tennessee Vols and Titans fan.  In her spare time, she enjoys working out at the Sumner County YMCA and helping with the Sumner County Habitat for Humanity’s builds.
