SR 386 and Indian Lake Boulevard Interchange Improvements

Improvements to the S.R. 386 (Vietnam Veteran’s) and Indian Lake Boulevard interchange originally scheduled to begin in January 2012, is now is slated to begin in April 2012.  The total cost of the project, including engineering and construction, is $6.8 million.  The City was responsible for $1.16 million with the State of Tennessee paying $5.64 million.

Improvements include widening the existing bridge to 5 lanes, adding and additional lane to the westbound entrance ramp (toward Nashville), and widening the bridge and adding one transitional lane on SR 386 where it crosses over Drakes Creek.

Motorist traveling north on Indian Lake Boulevard will have a new dedicated entrance ramp onto SR 386 toward Gallatin, and three lanes will be available crossing the bridge.  Two of those will transition to the entrance ramp toward Nashville and one lane will continue up Drakes Creek Road toward Stop 30 Road.  The entrance ramp toward Nashville will have one lane added, making it a dual lane entrance ramp.

Traveling southbound from Drakes Creek Road toward Indian Lake Boulevard, a dedicated left turn lane into the dual lane entrance ramp toward Nashville will be available and controlled by the recently completed traffic signal at that location.  Two lanes will go across the bridge toward Indian Lake Boulevard.  Once across the bridge, a dedicated left turn lane into the entrance ramp toward Gallatin will also be available.
