The Industrial Development Board is a not-for-profit, non-governmental corporation with the sole purpose of promoting, developing and assisting in the planned growth of Hendersonville's business and industrial community. The Board consists of representatives from all the wards/districts in the city, leaders in private business, and is governed by a Board of Directors. The Board's powers include the issuing of industrial revenue bonds to qualified borrowers for the acquisition or lease of industrial, retail and office properties.
In the early 1990's the Industrial Development Board undertook an aggressive and progressive project - the development of Freehill Business Park. The Industrial Development Board acquired the property just off Vietnam Veterans Parkway, close to I-65, and began recruiting existing businesses to build and expand there as well as recruiting new businesses to Hendersonville. More than a decade later, Freehill Business Park is a thriving business community with nationally recognized businesses such as Digital Communications, Inc., MGM Industries, Betty Machine and Nashville Wraps.
Recent bond issues include the $18 million dollar road and bridge project for Indian Lake Villages, the $3 million dollar expansion of Betty Machine, and Pope John Paul II High School.
The Industrial Development Board meets the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 pm at Hendersonville City Hall.
